ACT's sewage mining system offers various environmental benefits, through its ability both to reduce sludge and to produce a renewable commodity resource, as follows:
- Sludge reduction: By decreasing the amount of sludge formed from municipal wastewater by up to 50%, the SRS™ provides a major solution to a huge ongoing global sludge problem.
- Energy saving: With less sludge to process and less aeration needed for the biological process, energy usage in the WWTP is dramatically reduced.
- Lower Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emission: This can also qualify for earning carbon credits.
- Production of renewable commodity sources: These can be used by major industries such as energy, recycled paper and bio-plastics.
